Melissa was my trainer/coach April 2024 to June 2025. She helped me understand the importance of tracking calories to understand what my body really needs.
She took the time to learn my goals and help me reintroduce a strength training program in my routine.
I started with 15 - 20 minutes sessions of weight training at home and slowly increase my weight and reps.
I lost over 25 lbs and was able to maintain my weight lost.
Currently, I maintain my exercise routine to 4 days per week session between 40-50 minutes. And I continue with my walks and run for 20-30 minutes 4 to 5 days per week.
With her positive support, experience and knowledge, I improved my mindset, muscle mass and toning definition and my overall health and energy level.
I am a 47 yrs old woman and I really encourage all aging women over 40 yrs old to establish health habit to feel better entering the perimenopause or menopause years of your life.

What I like most about my program was that it was made for my personal preference.

Mélissa’s story is a powerful testament to the resilience and determination that define not just elite athletes but every member of our gym community here in Orleans. As a mother, respiratory therapist, online fitness & nutrition coach, Mélissa exemplifies how passion and purpose can blend seamlessly with rigorous fitness training to transform lives, even amidst the challenges of a demanding healthcare career.
From her early days turning to HIIT workout, CrossFit to support her family’s active lifestyle, to strength and bodybuilding training; Mélissa embodies the spirit of overcoming obstacles with grace and grit. This transformation was no short-won victory. It took many years, beginning with years of Greco workouts, then to multiple years of intense CrossFit. The culmination of all this consistent work and perseverance eventually brought her to competing on stages like the Canadian National Natural Show in Toronto. This year, earning her IFBB Pro Card in the Natural IFBB Pro Fit Model division. Now, she sets her sights on the Olympia stage, symbolizing that it’s never too late to chase new goals.

What drives you to always push hard?
It’s always been part of my personality. We only have one life! I don’t want to live my live saying I should’ve done this or that. I’m blessed to be healthy, and I want to stay healthy and strong. Give the right example to my kids.
What do you like about our gym specifically?
Most people that train here train with a goal in mind which I like. Nothing’s better to see people training with grit and passion. It’s inspiring! Having great personal trainers around, always open to give advice is a great asset to A Foot Above Fitness. Of course I like the great equipment that you won’t find at other gym and the posing section! It’s a plus.
What goals are you currently working towards?
My pro debut in 2026 as an IFFB pro. Never thought I would say this. Stepping on stage, and rock it! Invest more time in my coaching business and help more people with their fitness and nutrition goals. Keep a balance life with family and all of the above!
